Goldfinch Christmas Ornament
A goldfinch in the Christmas tree! With its distinctive red face, black-and-white head and flashes of golden yellow on its wings, the European goldfinch is one of Europe’s most recognisable and much-loved garden birds.
Birds have a long tradition in Christmas trees, where they are associated with happiness, freedom and good fortune. This beautifully detailed ornament captures the characteristic markings of the goldfinch in softly shimmering brown, gold, red and black.
The goldfinch also holds a special place in European art history. For art lovers, the little bird inevitably recalls Carel Fabritius’ famous 1654 painting The Goldfinch (Het Puttertje) – giving this ornament an appealing connection between nature, art and Christmas tradition.
Traditionally mouth-blown from glass and carefully hand-decorated in the heart of Europe. A wonderful ornament for bird lovers, art enthusiasts, nature lovers and collectors of traditional glass Christmas decorations.
